BOL claims it is Pakistan’s Number One channel in terms of news and entertainment as well as its iconic infrastructure, state-of-the-art studios and cutting-edge technology. According to a number of prestigious media rating companies, BOL is by far the most watched channel of Pakistan. The ratings of BOL News’ shows have exceeded those of other channels by at least 200 times and it enjoys 6 times more viewership than any other channel in the country. While BOL News is not an entertainment channel, it can be safely compared with any of Pakistan’s leading entertainment channels. It is for the first time in Pakistani media’s history that a news channel has come with direct competition with any reputed entertainment channel and exceeded it in terms of ratings. It’s not just BOL that claims to be Pakistan’s Number One channel; other channels also believe they are unbeatable in terms of their content, program quality, and viewership. However, BOL’s claim has some logic as its programs are viewed by people of all age groups, genres and socio-economic strata. Other channels, in contrast, only cater to specific segments of population and social classes. Given all these facts and figures, it is not difficult to establish that only BOL’s claim of being Pakistan top channel sounds justified.
