Film and theatre actor Tom Alter has been diagnosed with cancer. The Padma Shri awardee, popularly known for his stint on TV show Zabaan Sambhalke, is suffering from fourth stage skin cancer. The news came less than a week after the 67-year-old multi-faceted performer was discharged from a city hospital, where he was admitted for “body pain”.
Last week, Alter was admitted into a city hospital as he complained of severe body pain, this led to speculations of Tom suffering from a terminal disease. Later his longtime collaborator and playwright Sayeed Alam rubbished the rumors until Alter’s son confirmed this news.
He was last seen in Vijay Verma and Imran Khan’s travel drama Sargoshiyan earlier this year. He is best known for his stint in theatre.
The former sports journalist had interviewed Sachin Tendulkar for the first time for television before he made his debut for India.
