The Supreme Court (SC) ordered Sindh police to arrest ex-Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rao Anwar.
Rao Anwar reached the court in a white-coloured Toyota Corolla with a police escort, wearing a surgical mask.
“You used to act brave, where were you all this time,” said Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar while heading a three-member bench of the apex court.
“You were in hiding, where were you running? Do you not trust the courts?” the CJP further added.
“You aren’t doing anybody a favour by appearing in court,” the CJP remarked.
The apex court also withdrew the contempt of court notice issued to him. The court also dismissed his plea for protective bail. However, CJP ordered the authorities to ensure his security.
The apex court rubbished all the allegations Rao Anwar levelled against the probe committees. However, it decided to form a new Joint Investigation Team in the case.
