Salma Begum, the mother of Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s third wife Dania Shah, revealed after his death that the pair had not finalised their divorce and that the deceased had contacted the Shah family to reconcile with Dania.
Salma expressed her condolences over Hussain’s death , saying that his sudden death has caused her family “great distress.”
Hussain had phoned her family three to four days before his death, she claimed, to reconcile with Dania.
“Aamir Liaquat wanted to reconcile with Dania from the first day after she filed for khula (woman’s right to divorce). I told him to take care of himself first as things had turned out to be complicated,” added Salma Begum. “The divorce had not been finalised yet.”
Dania had filed for a khula against her husband last month, claiming that he was “not what he appeared to be on TV” and “worse than the devil.”
Aamir was “extremely glad about settling the issues with her daughter,” Dania’s mother said, adding that he would “visit their town shortly to tender an apology.”
She stated that if the government provides security, the Shah family will attend his funeral ceremony in Karachi.
She said, “He was our son and son-in-law, and Dania Shah is still his wife.”
