According to ‘Variety,’ Amber Heard has not been sacked from her role as Mera in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ despite a rumour that the actress had been fired.
“The rumour mill continues as it has from day one — false, insensitive, and slightly mad,” a spokesperson for Heard told Variety.
Heard previously appeared in the original ‘Aquaman,’ a 2018 superhero film based on a DC Comics character of the same name, as well as ‘Justice League’ and the reimagined ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League.’
To paraphrase ‘Variety,’ Heard’s star power has been diluted in recent months as a result of a highly public defamation trial in which her ex-husband Johnny Depp sued her over a 2018 ‘Washington Post’ piece that ‘The Pirates of the Caribbean’ claimed implied he was physically violent to her.
Because the jury determined that Depp’s reputation and career were harmed as a result of the publication, Heard was ordered to pay $10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages.
According to ‘Variety,’ social media overwhelmingly favoured Depp over Heard during the trial, portraying him as a folk hero and her as a liar, resulting in a slew of memes and TikTok videos criticising her evidence.
