
In light of Pervez Musharraf’s deteriorating health, Major General Babar Iftikhar, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated Tuesday that the military leadership believes the former army chief should return to Pakistan.
“In such a situation, the institution and leadership’s position is that Pervez Musharraf should return,” DG ISPR remarked.
During an interview with a private television channel, a military spokeswoman stated the ex-family president’s will make the final decision on his return to Pakistan. He is currently residing in the United Arab Emirates.
“We have contacted his family. Once his family responds, we can make the required arrangements,” the military’s spokesperson said as he prayed for Musharraf’s speedy recovery.
Last Monday, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated that if the former dictator chose to return to Pakistan, no obstacles should be erected.
Musharraf, 78, is gravely ill these days due to an ailment known as amyloidosis, according to his office.
