The second Chinese Type 054A/P frigate, known as PNS Taimur, has been added to the Pakistan Navy. The China Shipbuilding Trading Company constructed the ship (CSTC).
At Shanghai’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard, the commissioning ceremony took place. Commodore Rashid Mehmood Sheikh, commander of the Pakistan Navy Mission in China, attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
PNS Taimur is a highly advanced ship outfitted with the newest armaments, sensors, and Combat Management System, according to Director General Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Navy (CMS).
PNS Taimur will greatly improve the protection of Pakistan’s maritime borders and give the Pakistan Navy a sustained increase in combat capacity.

The Pakistan Navy and Chinese shipbuilder CSTC signed a contract in June 2017 to buy two Type 054 II-class frigates.
The arrangement was extended a year later when the Pakistan Navy placed an additional order for two Type 054A/P Jiangkai II-class guided-missile frigates.
