Dua Mangi was kidnapped by Zohaib Qureshi and his collaborators in Karachi’s Defense Housing Authority (DHA) neighbourhood on November 30, 2019, and was released after her father paid the kidnappers Rs2.5 million.
Zohaib Qureshi had eluded police arrest in January by duping officials into a false’shopping spree’ near Tariq Road, and he had been on the loose ever since.
A hearing was scheduled for Zohaib Qureshi and his accomplices at the city court. Due to the gross incompetence of constables Naveed and Zafar Habib, who were detained for assisting the lead suspect, he was able to flee.

She was strolling down the street with her colleague Haris Soomro when the kidnappers approached and threatened them both with guns. One of the kidnappers who grabbed the young woman and fled shot Soomro.
