On Sunday, Lahore Police apprehended Dua Zehra, a missing Karachi teenager who was allegedly kidnapped and forced into a child marriage, and her husband Zaheer from Chishtian in Bahawalnagar.
According to the investigation’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Kamran Adil, the capital city police officer (CCPO) of Lahore deemed Dua’s search a “special task,” and the city’s Central Investigation Agency (CIA), led by the investigation’s senior superintendent of police (SSP), had formed various teams to track down the teenager.
According to the DIG inquiry, search teams had been acting in various places and had eventually apprehended Dua and Zaheer in Chishtian.
“Dua Zehra and her husband Zaheer had sought safety at the home of his brother-in-law. He said the house belonged to a bank employee named Rafi.
Dua and her husband have been handed over to Karachi police, according to DIG Kamran Adil.
Months long search
In April, the adolescent vanished from her Karachi home. Dua’s father, Mehdi Kazmi, had previously stated to the media that IGs from three provinces had failed to rescue his daughter.
“So far, the cops have merely dealt with the paperwork. The cops aren’t putting in any effort. Only when they bring my kid will I feel the cops have done their job “He has claimed previously.
The Sindh High Court had ordered acting IG Sindh Kamran Fazal to halt working earlier last week, citing the provincial law enforcement’s inability to present teen Dua Zehra in court.
