According to The Independent, the former chief of royal protection at Scotland Yard claims that if Prince Harry had visited the UK for Prince Philip’s memorial, he would have had enough security.
Dai Davies lambasted the Duke of Sussex’s security fears as’sheer, pure rubbish’ as he prepared to go to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games after skipping Philip’s memorial in the UK.
When asked if the UK could be labelled as a ‘possibly risky’ destination for Prince Harry to visit, Davies replied, “No, I wouldn’t.” He’d be subjected to the same risk assessment as any other royal.”
“Most of them no longer receive full-time or even part-time protection, therefore the fact is that the UK is considerably safer than most other locations.” And, with all due respect, Harry is not a security specialist.”
“If Harry had attended Philip’s funeral ceremony last month, he would have been safeguarded since he was among family members,” Davies was reported as adding. He, on the other hand, elected not to. That’s his prerogative.”
