Shaun White is watching The Vampire Diaries for the first time.
After a fellow TikTok user questioned if he had ever seen Nina Dobrev’s programme, the former pro snowboarder admitted that he had recently seen it for the first time and expressed his opinions on the CW teen drama.
“This is a question I am asked a lot,” he explained. “Yes, I’ve seen the programme. It appealed to me. It was excellent.”
White claimed he opted to watch the show during the COVID-19 epidemic, when he and Dobrev were separated due to health and safety concerns.
“It was simply weird because Nina was filming a movie in Canada, and I wasn’t permitted to travel there since I was in quarantine. For the next three months, I wasn’t going to see her. ‘Oh, this will be fun,’ I thought. ‘Let’s get this party started.’ I’ll almost see her without actually seeing her. It was also nice, however it did become a bit dark.”
When White found himself “rooting” for his girlfriend to finish up with her numerous love suitors on the programme, he joked that he became conflicted.
“She’s like…all the males on the show’s love interest,” he joked. “Then I found myself pulling for them wholeheartedly. ‘Am I in the way?’ I wondered.”
Elena Gilbert, played by Dobrev, is a vampire who falls in love with Stefan Salvatore at first (Paul Wesley). Elena Gilbert subsequently fell in love and married Stefan Salvatore’s elder brother Damon, played by Ian Somerholder, ending their on-screen relationship.
Despite the fact that portions of the fictitious series is based on White’s real-life relationship with Dobrev, 33, White claimed he appreciated it. “Anyway, I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea or not. But I did watch the programme, and I’m looking forward to — is it season nine yet?”
While White was new to the programme, he had previously spent time with one of Dobrev’s former castmates. Wesley, 38, joined the pair on a snowboarding trip to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming last year.

“Sometimes you have double down,” Dobrev captioned a photo of the couple on the slopes wearing masks.
She also uploaded a couple images of herself with Wesley, 28, and Ramon, 28, whom she labelled her “Powder friends,” on her Instagram Stories.
Dobrev and White were originally linked in March after being seen riding bikes in Malibu, California. In May 2020, the couple made their relationship Instagram public when White posted a video of the actress trimming his hair.
