After Saba Qamar brought Qandeel Baloch’s narrative to life in the drama series Baaghi, Alankrita Shrivastava, an Indian filmmaker, is taking her story to the big screen.
This is the renowned Indian director responsible for films such as Lipstick Under My Burkha. She is now set to create a film on the Pakistani social media celebrity who was assassinated in 2016 in an honour killing.
The film is produced by Vikas Sharma, the man behind Toba Tek Singh, and Sunny Khanna, the man behind Why Cheat India. The film will be based on Sanam Maher’s book, “The Sensational Life and Death of Qandeel Baloch.” They have acquired the rights to Aleph’s biopic.
Alankrita Shrivastava’s works include Busan selection, Dolly Kitty and Those Twinkling Stars, and the Netflix series Bombay Begums, in addition to the scandalous and thought-provoking film Lipstick Under My Burkha.
