Kelsey Parker, Tom Parker’s widow, has taken her first vacation since her husband’s death.
Kelsey described the vacation as ‘bittersweet,’ as she jets out to witness two of her friends marry, admitting that the weekend will be difficult for her following her loss.
Tom, the singer for Wanted, died in March at the age of 33, less than two years after being diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour.
According to The Mirror, the father-of-two had been requested to be an usher at a wedding in Ireland this weekend.
In a message to her fans, the mother said: “Hello everyone, I just arrived in Ireland today.
“I’ve travelled to Ireland to attend the weddings of my best friends, Ruth Ann and Ollie.
“Yep, it’s going to be a really strange weekend for me, definitely bittersweet.”
“Obviously, Ruth and Ollie are getting married, and I’m ecstatic for them,” she added, “but Tom was supposed to be here this weekend, and he was supposed to be an usher.”
“It’s gonna be the first event, wedding, that I’ve actually been to, without him. being with me.
“So, yeah, this weekend will be a challenge.”
Kelsey gave her first interview about living without her four-year-husband on the ITV daytime show Loose Women earlier this month.
Tom’s death has left Kelsey’still in shock,’ but she feels Tom has been sending her signs from beyond the dead.
“He’s shown me so many signs… Car alarms go off at four o’clock in the morning, and I tell him, “Not at four o’clock, Tom!”
“I do communicate with him.” I believe that is also a release. I can sense him there when I chat to him.”
“I feel strong,” she continued, “I’m simply getting through each day.” I’m in charge of the children. I have to get up every day and get on with it, just trying to be as strong as I can in a very terrible circumstance for us all.”
Tom’s bandmates have offered to help Kelsey raise her two children, Aurelia, two, and Bodhi, one, while he is away.
Following Tom’s diagnosis, the 32-year-old stated the band was a huge support for him, and they’ve promised to be involved in his daughter and son’s lives after he’s gone.
During Tom’s final days, Jay McGuinness, 31, even moved into the family home to help care for the kids so Kelsey could see Tom in the hospice.
“Jay stayed with us,” the mother told The Sun. He was in the loft room upstairs, simply to let me know he was there.”
Jay, Max George (33), Siva Kaneswaran (33) and Nathan Sykes (29) are Tom’s bandmates, according to her: “They’ve always been an important part of our life.” They are also role models for the children, so I would like them to come over and get their picture taken.
