Depp’s legal team has responded to industry consultant Kathryn Arnold’s remark, in which she compared Heard’s career to those of Hollywood actors Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, and Zendaya.
When it comes to Heard’s film career, Arnold believes she could have had the same success as Gadot, Momoa, and Zendaya if it weren’t for Depp’s claimed “smear campaign” against her.
“When you look at the time frame of when the Waldman statements came out [in 2020], and you look at what was going on with Heard’s career previous to the statement and what transpired after the statement,” Arnold stated in court on Monday, May 23.
“It would have been very fair to suppose her career would have been on an upward track like those other performers if it hadn’t been for the false charges,” she continued.
During cross-examination, the lawyers for the Pirates of the Caribbean actor pushed back on Arnold’s comparison, claiming that the two performers’ careers were poles apart.
All of these stars, according to the lawyers, had signed on to blockbuster franchises or had higher-profile careers than Heard in 2020.
Heard returned to the stand last week and testified that her role in Aquaman 2 was severely reduced as a result of her feud with Depp.
