Salman Khan has repeatedly demonstrated that he has a soft heart for his Pakistani followers. Whether it’s advocating for Muslims or defending them, Khan has always been one step ahead of the competition. The Dabang actor stated to an Indian tabloid that he turned down the blockbuster film Chak De India because he didn’t want to disappoint his Pakistani fans.
Later, in 2007, Shah Rukh Khan was offered the part, which he accepted and made into a big blockbuster. Salman explained why he turned down the position.
“I had a problem with the climax. My reasoning was that if you lose to Pakistan then you also have to win with Pakistan. I also had a problem with the title. I wish they hadn’t added India to the title. I felt our fans in Pakistan and Bangladesh might feel bad.”
Salman Khan does not regret rejecting it, even after it became a big hit.
“I don’t regret not doing the film but I agree that my judgment about it was wrong.”
It’s Chak De! India is a film about a disgraced hockey player who is accused of being a traitor in India and then goes on to lead the Indian women’s hockey team to a world cup victory to disprove the accusations.
Salman Khan is a real Dabang, and we admire him for his golden heart and compassion for Pakistan.
On the work front, Salman Khan is gearing up for a year of blockbuster smashes. The film Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali will be released in December. This August will also see the release of Laal Singh Chaddha. Tiger 3 is set to hit theatres in April of next year.
