During his six-week defamation trial with Amber Heard, Johnny Depp has gathered a lot of popular support, and the jury will announce their decision next week after deliberations.
Given the outpouring of public support for Depp, the hot question is whether he will be able to return to Hollywood following the defamation trial.
According to Entertainment Weekly, two PR professionals with years of Hollywood experience who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “Hollywood likes a comeback story, so someone will find a way to do business with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor in some way.”
“Depp’s swaggering, wisecracking performance in court has reminded them of why they liked him,” experts added. It serves as a reminder to us all of the value of authenticity.”
Both reports, however, stated that the actor faces a “tough path back to popular stardom.”
“I think it’s still a challenging sell for big studios.” Although the world has moved on since #MeToo, our business is still trying to prove a message. So, I believe there is still a space for him, and he can work steadily to return,” sources said.
According to experts, audiences want to witness movie stars who aren’t afraid to display their vulnerable side.
“In Depp’s case, he can give one simple, softball interview after the trial, saying ‘I was wrong and I’m sorry,’ and then plant the seed that he wants to come back, and that will do the work,” sources added.
