Since Ekin-Su is no longer gracing our televisions, NETFLIX is stepping in to fill the Love Island void in our life.
However, there is a catch to the new reality show, which claims to be “the most embarrassing dating show in history.”
The teaser trailer for the movie Dated & Related opens with a setting that is eminently recognisable: a luxurious home in a far-off land, with attractive individuals swimming in the pool.
Melinda Barry, the host, enters with a voiceover in which she describes how attractive singles from all over the world will be looking for love in “the most romantic country.”
But, she adds, “there’s a catch.”
Your sister or brother, who are also looking for love, will join you.
The remainder of the clip is full of weird incidents, such as a girl who asks a guy, “How do you feel about me perhaps sharing a bed with him?”
It’s a little strange, the man answers.
Another man acknowledges, “Kissing someone in front of my sister is certainly a first for me.”
Cue astonished looks, gasps, sobs, and one girl brazenly flirting with her brother next to her.
One person inquires, “What’s on the menu,” to which she responds, “I don’t know, me?”
Expect uneasy looks from the other siblings.
“What makes someone do this? Since falling in love is not always easy, the voiceover explains.
“Having someone on your side is helpful when looking for your soul mate.
And that someone is the only one who truly knows you.
The idea behind the programme might be the ideal response to the bullying allegations that plagued Love Island.
“You better watch how you’re talking to my sister, you’re being disrespectful,” one person yells aggressively at another.
She glances across at her brother before shaking her head at the man who wants to kiss her when another gentleman approaches.
The show’s description on Netflix reads: “Imagine having to consider how your brother interacts with potential partners—their flirting style, how they handle them, and their hallmark gestures.
“Pairs of siblings will be experiencing each other’s love lives up close and personal as they search for ‘the one’ together in this brand-new reality dating series,” says the website.
Added is: “You should find it easier to negotiate the challenging world of dating if you have someone who knows you better than anyone.
“Will they, however, serve as your ideal love matchmaker? Or derail your ambitions and expose all of your b.s.? It might just be awkward in either case. Hell, yeah.”
Let’s look at the Dated & Related cast that has been revealed.
THE BAJORS (Texas, USA)
The Bajor sisters defy expectations in every way! People are drawn to Mady and Lily’s upbeat, carefree spirit and they live on unpredictability.
They tend to overreact to jokes, especially when they concern one other’s romantic relationships, because they don’t take life too seriously.
Mady and Lily are constantly interfering in each other’s relationships because they like making potential partners uncomfortable. The sisters are extremely close and devoted to one another, so this is coming from a good place.
The interfering is seen by Mady and Lily as a test. He’s a keeper if the date doesn’t seem overstimulated!
THE BISHOPS (Essex)
Kaz and Kieran, British twin brothers, share everything, including friendships, an apartment, and a propensity to get disinterested in romantic relationships.
Their methods for dating, however, are wholly dissimilar.
Firefighter Kaz, a self-described player and heartthrob, is addicted to playing the field and juggling numerous ladies at once.
While Kieran, a smooth-talking socialite who has been in a relationship with his childhood sweetheart for more than 10 years, wears his heart on his sleeve.
When selecting a spouse, he is incredibly picky. Furthermore, none of them will accept anything less than excellence.
THE COHEN/HAHNS (New Jersey, USA)
Chris and Jason are cousins that naturally compete with one another. From surfing to wrestling, they have mastered every sport since they were little, and the South Jersey club scene is now simply another playground for them.
The two don’t have to put forth any effort at all when it comes to dating. Girls are literally waiting in line to chat with them because of their attractiveness, charm, and VIP treatment wherever they go.
Although Jason and Chris are enjoying their independence, they could see themselves settling down if the right woman were to come along. The issue is that every weekend, the “right girl” appears.
