After his health deteriorated last week, former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf is set to return to Pakistan via air ambulance and his treatment would continue there, according to reports.
Musharraf’s family has chosen to relocate him to Pakistan, according to sources. The former president has been receiving medical care in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the past six years.
Following the announcement of Musharraf’s ailing health, the PML-N, a key partner in the coalition government, and the military leadership declared that if the former president wanted to return, he should be brought back to Pakistan.
PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif last week asked the coalition government to facilitate Musharraf if he wishes to return to Pakistan, adding that he does not have any “personal enmity or tussle” with the ex-dictator.

“I have no personal enmity or tussle with Pervez Musharraf. I do not want anyone else to suffer the traumas that I have to endure for my loved ones,” the three-time prime minister stated on Twitter.
“In such a situation the institution and leadership’s stance is that Pervez Musharraf should return,” said DG ISPR during an interview with a private television channel.
If the former dictator wishes to return to Pakistan, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif feels that no obstacles should be put in his way.
“No obstacles should be imposed in the way of General Musharraf’s return to Pakistan due to his ailing health,” the defence minister stated in a post on Twitter.

He said that past events shouldn’t be involved in this matter as he prayed for Musharraf’s recovery.
