
Miscreants opened fire on a camp in Balochistan’s Harnai area on Friday night, killing four labourers and injuring four more.
According to police sources, the workers were attacked while returning to their camp after working on the construction of a road in the Chapar Lift area of the Harnai district. The assailants were unharmed and were able to flee the scene.
Levies reportedly arrived on the scene and transported the injured labourers to Harnai’s district headquarters hospital for treatment.
Commissioner Balach Aziz of the Sibi Division dispatched Levies soldiers to the area in order to apprehend the perpetrators of the terror assault. So far, no arrests have been made.
In Hanna Urak, Quetta, four coal mine personnel, including two engineers, were kidnapped last week. Police sources said employees of the Habibullah Coal Company were kidnapped on their way back from work.
He went on to say that the kidnappers had taken the employees to an unknown location.
Militants have also kidnapped coal miners and targeted security forces in the past. The two locations of the province capital, Sorange and Marwar, are rich in coal reserves.
Near May of this year, a landmine explosion in Harnai killed at least two individuals. According to the official, a landmine had been set on the road leading to the coal mines by an unnamed person.
Three coal miners were killed in the same district last year when unidentified armed men opened fire.
