To hasten the global normalisation of EVs, automakers and other related businesses are creating collaborations. As part of an endeavour to extend its EV development operations, the Hyundai Motor Group has partnered with Michelin to create tyres specifically suited for electric cars (EVs).
In order to achieve the best performance and the least amount of rolling resistance, Hyundai and Michelin are developing innovative tyre designs and materials. They believe that the extra weight of EVs’ battery packs makes conventional tyres less suitable for use with them.
Both businesses will create a system to track data on tyre wear under various conditions during the course of the three-year agreement. Tires for electric vehicles (EVs) like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and the complete Tesla portfolio are already Michelin’s area of expertise.
The development of EVs is being accelerated by Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis. By 2030, the company aims to sell 3.23 million units annually with a total of 31 new EV models.
