The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a power pricing hike of Rs. 5.28 per unit for K-Electric customers on Tuesday (KE).
The hearing on KE’s petition to allow the increase under Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) for the month of April was chaired by NEPRA Chairman Tauseef H Farooqi. NEPRA will issue an official announcement soon.
The power regulator said the increase in power tariff will be received in the bills of June 2022.
K-Electric had applied to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a rate increase of Rs. 5.30 under fuel adjustment charges for the month of April.
KE also filed another petition for quarterly price revisions, this time requesting a rise of Rs. 3.89 per unit for the first quarter (January-March 2022).
Farooqi questioned KE officials regarding the gas purchase arrangement with Sui Southern Gas Company Limited during the hearing (SSGC). The officials stated that the gas purchase agreement with SSGC would be completed soon. Secretary Petroleum has also met with both firms, according to the officials.
