The first monsoon spell in Karachi will begin on June 22, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Sardar Sarfaraz, PMD’s Chief Meteorologist, stated in a statement that the pre-monsoon rain spell in Karachi could start in the third week of this month.
“During the first monsoon system, the port city would experience light to moderate rainfall,” he added.
Heavy rain is anticipated by the Met Office for the second half of June across the country.
According to the report, monsoon rainfall in Punjab and Balochistan will be above normal, while rainfall in the rest of the country would be slightly above normal.
Heavy monsoon rains have already wreaked havoc in various parts of the Chagai region, particularly places along the Iran-Afghanistan border, causing flooding in rainfall streams.
Dust storms hit Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, and the adjacent districts, causing locals to stay at home for several hours.
