According to a top official of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the monsoon season in Karachi would be longer than usual this year (PDM).
The monsoon season will begin in the metropolis on June 29, according to the PMD forecast.
According to Chief Meteorologist Dr. Sardar Sarfraz, the longer the heatwave lasts, the more rain will fall.
According to him, the heat wave started in February this year.
“The heat wave came a little early in Karachi. The first spell was between 11-14 March, and the second spell occurred in the last days of the same month. This year, a lengthy heatwave affected Sindh and later southern Punjab, which is expected to result in a prolonged monsoon.”
The monsoon season will last from July through September, according to Dr. Sarfraz.
He also stated that precipitation will increase by 20 to 30 percent in Karachi, western Sindh, including Jamshoro, and Balochistan.
