Kubbra Sait has disclosed that she was sexually molested as a teenager in her new book Open Book: Not Quite a Memoir. The actor opened up about being abused as a child in order to spare her family from being ‘destroyed.’ She claimed in the book that it took her many years to tell her mother about how she had been molested ‘under her nose’ in her house. Kubbra also stated that her mother suddenly apologised to her, despite the fact that the assault occurred decades ago. A family acquaintance, whom she refers to in her book as ‘X,’ abused her for two and a half years.
Kubbra claimed in the book that she was just 17 years old when she was involved in the “biggest catastrophe” she had ever witnessed. She mentioned going to a Bangalore restaurant with her family on a daily basis, and how the owner grew friendly with both her and her brother, Danish. According to the star, he even assisted their mother with her ‘financial troubles.’ Kubbra claims that the man began sexually abusing her shortly after his ‘assistance.’ He also asked that she not refer to him as uncle.
“I sighed with Mumma when she sighed at the respite that money offered. A hand reached out and slid up my dress in the rear seat of the automobile where I was seated. As he caressed my leg, X, who was no longer my uncle, smiled. In that time, I was numb… Mumma would laugh with him and cook for him when he came to our house. He would kiss my cheek in front of her and say, ‘Oh my Kubrati, you’re my favourite little one.’ “I kept quiet, even though it was uncomfortable,” read an excerpt from Kubbra Sait’s Open Book: Not Quite a Memoir, which was posted by Times of India.

Kubbra went on to say that for the first time she was sexually molested, X took her to a hotel and touched her face before kissing her lips. She was’shocked and confused,’ but she couldn’t say anything. “It wasn’t intended to happen like this, but it did.” I wanted to shout, but I couldn’t. I should have run for aid, but I was too stunned to do so. The kiss intensified. He persuaded me that it was just what I needed and that it would make me feel better. He kept doing it till I was deafened, at which point he unbuckled his slacks. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but I remember thinking to myself, “I’m losing my virginity.” It was a major deal, but it worked out.
Since the incident, she said, X, who was married and had a child — he fathered a second child during the years he sexually abused Kubbra – had ‘grown like a virus’ in their home. She wrote that if Kubbra resisted him, he would stop taking her mother’s calls. Her mother, according to Kubbra, was completely unaware of anything that was going on between X and her daughter, and would chastise the actor for allegedly fighting with X when he refused to assist the family. Kubbra further claimed that she was being sexually molested and that no one in her immediate vicinity ‘could even tell.’
X threatened Kubbra’s family, claiming “it would kill us” if she ever told them about her sexual assault, according to Kubbra, who also wrote in her book, “life isn’t a fairy tale.” The actor stated that she believed what he said and that if she were dealt the same cards today, she would not have done anything differently. Her mind and spirit, she stated, ‘felt lifeless’ at that time.
