Karachi – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has finally decided to remove Qaim Ali Shah from the post of CM Sindh and reshuffle the provincial cabinet. The decision is no surprise to anyone amid poor performance of PPP in Sindh in last 8 years.
The decision was taken at a party’s meeting co-chaired by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Sha, Provincial finance minister and nominated Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Home Minister Sohail Anwer Siyal, former federal minister Rehman Malik, MNA Faryal Talpur and Law Adviser Murtaza Wahab.
The formal announcement of the decision was made by Senator Farhatullah Babar in a statement issued after the meeting. He said “Today, the PPP decided to make changes in the Sindh cabinet, including bringing in a new chief minister,”
The decision to remove Qaim Ali Shah was taken by Bilawal Bhutto not Asif Ali Zardari Latif Khosa added. The PPP chairman took the decision after reviewing the overall situation in the province and discussing the matter with all party leaders.”
Latif Khosa further added that the provincial cabinet will be reshuffled after intra party consultation. Farhat ullah Babar added that Bilawal will come to Karachi to finalize the changes in the cabinet. It is also to be noted that Bilawal Bhutto has started to guide major party decision.
PPP did not cite any reason of Qaim Ali Shah’s removal as CM Sindh but sources said that Shah has a soft corner for Rangers in Sindh and he was in favor of extending the special powers to Rangers in interior Sindh. Previosuly when the Rangers special power expired in Karachi, Shah has tried to convince Zardari to extend special powers for the sake of Karachi’s peace which went against him.
This was Qaim Ali Shah’s third term as CM Sindh and he remained at this position for 10 years the longest among his peers
