Nimrah Kazmi has denied being kidnapped, and a judge has given her permission to go whenever she wants.
“I was not abducted,” Nimrah said in her confessional statement to the court. The girl reiterated that she married Shahrukh of her own free will.
The latter is the prime suspect in Nimrah’s ‘kidnapping’ case.
The case of Nimrah Kazmi’s alleged kidnapping was heard before a magistrate at Karachi City Court.
Nimrah was being harassed in a shelter home, according to Shahrukh’s lawyer Muhammad Farooq.
“Nimrah’s meals have been stopped and she is not allowed to meet Shahrukh’s family,” the counsel stated.
The investigative officer was immediately summoned to the rostrum by the court. It questioned the IO about the shelter home’s ban on meeting Nimrah.
According to the orders of the Sindh High Court, there was no such prohibition.
“Why is Nimrah Kazmi not being allowed to meet her inlaws?” the magistrate questioned.
“Why is she not being provided meals? Is this how girls are treated in a shelter home?”
The IO replied by saying: “To my knowledge, there is no such thing, nor is are any meetings prohibited.
The magistrate, on the other hand, was irritated by the IO’s response and inquired as to why the matter had not yet been challaned.
The officer reacted by adding that the Sindh Child Act sections had been added to the case and that the challan will be presented after the girl’s confessing statement.
Meanwhile, Shahrukh’s lawyer inquired about the marriage with the IO.
According to the officer, the wedding took place in Punjab.
“How could the Sindh Child Protection Act be administered if the marriage took place in Punjab?” Shahrukh’s lawyer wondered.
The court also inquired as to whose orders the Sindh Child Protection Act’s clauses were incorporated.
