Pakistan Railways (PR) increased train fares on Tuesday, citing a recent increase in fuel prices.
According to a PR announcement, a 10% hike in train prices will go into effect on Friday, June 17, while freight charges will be increased by 15%.
According to sources, the fee was raised in response to the rise in the price of petroleum goods.
Previously, a number of national and international airlines raised prices for travellers flying abroad, with increases of up to 40% on flights to Europe, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and other destinations.
According to individuals familiar with the situation, round-trip tickets to the United Kingdom and Germany from Karachi fetch Rs300,000.
They went on to say that a sharp increase in domestic flight fares had also been seen. “For Lahore and Islamabad-bound planes from Karachi airport, up to Rs30,000 is being collected,” they stated.
