General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday for the first time since the premier was elected.

“Professional matters pertaining to national security were discussed during the meeting,” a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said.
According to Major General Babar Iftikar, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army leader was unable to attend the premier’s inauguration on April 11 due to illness.
