ISLAMABAD – Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar has been named as the next Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau by the government and its coalition partners (NAB).
According to sources familiar with the situation, Prime Minister Imran Khan and former President Asif Ali Zardari discussed the name of a former Supreme Court judge during their meeting.
According to sources, the government believes that because Maqbool Baqar’s court record is pristine, the Opposition Leader of the National Assembly will likewise accept the government’s choice.
Members of the government are hoping that Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar would be appointed as the new head of the anti-graft body provided all goes well.
