For power consumed in March 2022, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a price hike of Rs. 4.83 per unit for K-Electric customers on Friday.
The permission was given to K-power Electric’s tariff appeal for fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for the month of March 2022, which will be charged to customers in June 2022 bills.
To recoup Rs. 8.592 billion from users, K-Electric proposed a Rs. 5.27 per unit increase in the power tariff. The estimate for the month of March was based on the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) invoice for February 2022, according to a petition submitted by KE, and was susceptible to changes based on NEPRA’s ruling.
The price increase would apply to all consumer groups excluding lifeline consumers, according to a NEPRA notification. NEPRA also mandated that the increase be displayed separately on bills based on the number of units billed to consumers in the month in which the adjustment is made.
