Public transporters in Pakistan have declared a countrywide strike for August 2 in protest of an increase in tolls and diesel costs.
During a news conference in Quetta, the Pakistan Public Transport Election Committee announced the development. The committee’s representative, Haji Saeed Jan, requested that their demands be met by the government by August 2.
Haji Saeed Khan announced a statewide strike beginning on August 2 after rejecting the “illegal” rise in income tax in token taxes on automobiles.
The government was also urged to lower diesel rates by the transporters. They also demanded the elimination of “illegal” additional toll plazas and toll tax rises.
