A universal helpline, 1421, has been launched by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and the Department of Tourist Services (DTS) for the guidance and complaints of visitors to the province.
The helpline was reportedly introduced at a ceremony on Friday at the Arfa Software Technology Park, where senior officials from both sides and the Punjab Tourism Department Secretary Ehsan Bhutta, Deputy Controller Hafiz Ghazanfer, PITB DG e-Governance Sajid Latif, Project Manager PTEGP Waqas Malik, and CCC PITB Joint Director Ali Zeb were present.
Ehsan Bhutta, the secretary for tourism in Punjab, addressed the event and announced the formation of a dedicated team to assist and direct visitors while also offering them protection and services in the event of an unpleasant situation.
He continued by saying that squads would be set up at several tourist hotspots and would be on hand to assist visitors throughout the day.
The special tourism squad will include 106 employees, including 11 female staff members, and up to 82 people will work in the field, per the information provided. The tourism squad would also be in charge of responding to queries and grievances from visitors.
The team will be set up in Murree in the initial phase before progressively expanding to other tourist hotspots in Punjab’s North, Center, and South. In order to provide the team with the necessary skills, intense training is currently being conducted.
The Department of Tourist Services (DTS) has also enlisted Rescue 1122, the Institute of Hospitality Department, and the PITB for this reason in addition to introducing the 1421 helpline for tourists. Together, these divisions are preparing the team with the essential competencies.
