KARACHI: The Met Office has forecast partly cloudy or cloudy conditions with the possibility of a rain-thunderstorm later this evening or tonight.

The monsoon currents are still making their way into Sindh, and the weather service predicts that they will start to pick up strength tomorrow.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain-thunderstorms with a few moderate (isolated heavy) falls are forecast for today and tomorrow in the districts of Tharparker, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Thatta, Sujawal, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Ghot

According to the PMD, the monsoon weather system is predicted to intensify between August 9 and August 13.

From August 10 (Wednesday), the northeastern and southern districts of Balochistan are predicted to see more intense rainfall, which could result in flash floods in the districts of Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar-Shahdadkot, and downstream.

During the expected period, heavy rains could cause urban flooding or water logging in low-lying parts of the Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad khan, Tando Allayar, Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, and Sukkur districts.

Hub dam, Thaddo dam, and the areas downstream may experience increased pressure as a result of persistently heavy rains across the Khuzdar, Lasbella, Hub, and Kirthar Range.

Fishermen should exercise additional caution during the anticipated rough to very rough sea conditions from August 10 to 13, according to the Met Office.

Yesterday, there were scattered, mild to moderate raindrops in Karachi and the Shaheed Banazirabad divisions.

In Karachhi, the highest rainfall totals were recorded in Gulshan Hadeed (47 mm), Quaidabad (43 mm), Jinnah Terminal (20 mm), M. O. S. (9.3 mm), P.A.F. Faisal Base (7 mm), Saadi Town (6 mm), Met Complex University Road (2.9 mm), Korangi (2.2 mm), P.A.F. Masroor Base (2 mm), and Keamari (1 13mm in Sakrand and 1mm in Sh. Banazirabad.
