Shahbaz Gill, a top PTI politician, was granted a two-day physical remand by a local court in Islamabad on Wednesday and was mandated to appear in court on Friday.
After attempting to stir enmity within the Pakistan Army while speaking on a private TV channel two days ago, Gill has been charged under significant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The PTI leader had been abusing journalists and threatening top government officials.
In the past, he had also engaged in personal assaults against his political rivals and made crude statements.
Gill is currently detained at the Kohsar police station in Islamabad since remand has been granted to the police by the court.
Meanwhile, pictures of him in jail have gone popular on social media.
But Gill has asserted that he did nothing illegal and that he will never criticise the military.
