Peoples Bus Service: Test drive of the Peoples Bus Service project held before launch

The Peoples Bus Service initiative was successfully tested by the Sindh government on Saturday, ahead of its commercial launch.

On Sharah-e-Faisal, Sindh Minister of Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon took a ride from Model Colony to Avari Towers hotel, covering the distance in just over an hour. He was accompanied by Saeed Ghani and Waqar Mehdi.

The province government brought the buses in from China, and they completed the 29-kilometer voyage without incident.

According to Memon, the Sindh government plans to run 240 buses on seven different routes in Karachi as part of the Peoples’ Bus Service project, and this is their trial run.

“Of the total of 250 buses, 140 have arrived, with the remainder of the vehicles likely to arrive soon.” “Of the 250 buses, 240 buses will run in Karachi and the remaining 10 buses would run in Larkana,” he said.

The PPP government in Sindh has managed to demonstrate some success in its civic administration after more than 14 years in power by establishing public transportation projects.

Memon took over as transport minister last month and immediately set about finishing various transportation-related projects that had been waiting in his ministry for months.

Orange Line BRT bus

A total of 49 vehicles for the Orange Line BRT project and the Intra-District Peoples Bus Service arrived at Karachi port last month.

The remaining buses, according to Sindh Transport and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, are on their way and will arrive in phases over the next month.

Memon also met with TransKarachi, the project’s execution company, and instructed them to begin building.

The provincial minister talked about how to get rid of the project consultant, contractors, and other transportation department staff.

He stated that the project should take two years to complete. He stated that the Sindh government will provide TransKarachi and contractors with complete cooperation.

Abdul Sattar Edhi Line is the new name for the Orange Line BRT. The BRT Orange Line runs from TMA Orangi to Jinnah University for Women, which is located next to the Board Office.
