The facelift version of the Proton X70 has finally been released. Proton hasn’t changed anything in its flagship SUV because it’s a mid-cycle update. The 2022 X70, also known as the MC1 X70, features a few small improvements over the previous generation.
Here are all the alterations that have been made to Proton MC1 X70:
Looks
MC1 X70 appears identical to the untrained eye. A redesigned alloy rim design (18′′ in low-end models, 19′′ in high-end variants), gloss black grille, side mirrors, rear diffuser, foglight housing, and body panels are among the minor alterations.
The inside is largely unchanged from the previous model, with the exception of a slightly revised gauge cluster, an upgraded infotainment system, and a grey headliner rather than beige.
Aside from these features, MC1 Saga appears to be identical to its predecessor.
Features
The previous edition of the Proton X70 was already among the better-equipped mid-range SUVs. Despite this, the MC1 X70 has a few improvements over the previous model. Here’s a list of all the features it has to offer:
As mentioned previously, the MC1 X70 now has a new top-of-the-line variation named 1.8 Premium, bringing the total number of variants to four.
Performance
A turbocharged 1.5 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine (taken from the new X50) produces 178 horsepower (hp) and 255 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque in the MC1 X70’s Standard, Executive, and Premium models. A 7-speed DCT automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels or all four wheels, depending on the type.
It includes McPherson struts in the front and independent multilink coil-spring suspension in the back, which makes for a comfortable and smooth ride. It also boasts Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) technology on all four wheels.
Price
MC1 X70’s price starts from RM 93,900 (Rs. 4.3 million) and goes up to RM 121,800 (Rs. 5.6 million).
Proton’s production is totally indigenized in Malaysia, but it is imported in a completely knocked down (CKD) form in Pakistan, which raises the cost of production. This gives Malaysia a huge cost advantage over Pakistan, which translates to a lower pricing for the X70 in Pakistan.
