Shabbir Qureshi, a Sindh MP for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was detained for suspected harassment.
Qureshi was detained when a lady complained of harassment, according to Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho.
“A woman had complained to SITE police station at 3am on Sunday morning, alleging that Qureshi assaulted her,” Odho said.
He claimed the woman claimed the PTI MPA enticed her with a job offer.
Odho further revealed that a case has been filed against Qureshi under Section 354 of the Pakistan Penal Code (attack or criminal force against a woman with the intent to shock her modesty) (PPC).
Qureshi has been the subject of an investigation, he said.
