Qarshi Jam-e-Shirin has distanced itself from a video interview with Dua Zehra and her husband Zaheer Ahmed, who went missing from her Karachi house and then surfaced in Punjab, which has been creating worry online. Because a bottle of the syrup was conspicuously displayed on the table in the video, netizens assumed it was sponsored by the company.
Zunaira Mahum, a content creator, conducted the interview with the teen who was reported missing from Karachi’s Shah Faisal Colony on April 16. On June 13, the video was released.
Because the host addressed questions about Dua and Zaheer’s favourite drinks and leaned her head towards the bottle on the table, many netizens concluded the interview was sponsored by the brand. Several people advocated for a boycott of the company.
On Thursday, Jam-e-Shirin took to social media to disassociate itself from the interview, claiming that it was not notified of the drink’s use until the video was posted online. “Adequate action will be taken in this regard,” the brand stated.
In the statement posted on Instagram stories, the brand wrote that it conducts its media communications with “dignity, upholding high moral standards” and was “surprised” at the prominent visibility of its brand during the interview.
It agreed to look into the matter and assured customers that the interview had nothing to do with it. The production team allegedly did not get permission before exhibiting and discussing Jam-e-Shirin in the interview, according to the post.
