Neeraj Chopra, an Olympian javelin thrower from India, thanked Arshad Nadeem, an Olympian from Pakistan, who won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 with a record throw of 90.18 metres.
At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Chopra took home the gold medal, while Pakistani superstar Nadeem placed fifth.
Neeraj commented on Arshad’s triumph Instagram picture, “Congratulations Arshad bhai (brother) for gold medal and reaching 90mtr with new games record.”
Following his record-breaking throw, Nadeem became the second Asian to hold the title of highest thrower after Taiwan’s Chao Suncheng in 1993, who recorded a throw of 91.36 metres.
“Aage ke competitions ke liye all the best (all the best for the next competitions),” Chopra added.
Nadeem gets international scholarship
Nadeem was rewarded for his efforts with a priceless gift.
Nadeem announced in a video message that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has given him a scholarship to help with his training for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Nadeem said, “I am honoured to have been given a scholarship by the International Olympic Committee which will aid me in getting ready for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
“On this occasion, I would like to thank Pakistan Olympic Association, Pakistan Sports Board, and Pakistan Athletics Federation for their efforts to arrange this scholarship for me,” added Nadeem.
