When enabled, the latest WhatsApp beta update now features an admin approval tool, which allows group moderators to accept or deny requests from those who want to join via hyperlink.
According to Mashable, the information comes from WABetaInfo, and it shows that the functionality, which is currently only available to beta users, will soon be available for secure versions of the app on both Android and iOS.
The admin approval feature in WhatsApp must be manually enabled for each group that requires it when it becomes available. The function will be toggled on or off in the group settings as ‘Group Membership Approval,’ and whenever it is toggled on or off, all current customers in the group will receive a brief notification to inform them of the change.
When the group membership approval functionality is turned on, admins will notice group membership requests in a separate area of the ‘Group Info’ section whenever someone wants to join the group via a sharable link. On this page, administrators can choose which clients have access to the group.
