A woman has been raped In Eastbourne park. On Tuesday, July 19, at around 5.15 p.m., the event is thought to have occurred in Hartfield Park.
A woman stated that she had been raped, and police were called to the scene. Since then, an 18-year-old boy has been detained on rape suspicion and is still being held.
Police have stated that although they believe this was an isolated event, they would likely continue to maintain a police presence in the area while their investigations are ongoing. Specially trained cops have been providing help to the victim.
Photos taken at the scene from last night show that there were police present and that a cordon was in place. Among the attendees were forensic officers.
A statement issued by Sussex Police has said: “Around 5.15am on Tuesday (July 19) police responded to a call from a member of the public about a distressed woman in Hartfield Park, Eastbourne. Officers attended the scene where the woman reported that she had been raped.
“There is likely to be an increased police presence in the area while the investigation continues. This is believed to be an isolated incident.
“The victim has been receiving support from specially trained officers. An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in custody at this time.”
